Growing up in North Limburg
I was born in the late 1960s and grew up in a small village in North Limburg, with plenty of space around the house and nearby. We played a lot of football, built huts and cycled our own Tour de France in the summer. I played football seriously until I was eighteen. Then I began backpacking and tried all kinds of outdoor sports.
Moving to Canada
In 2009, Anja and I moved to Canada. First we travelled around for a few months to find where we would feel at home. That turned out to be Kimberley in British Columbia. We took over a Bed & Breakfast there. Anja runs the B&B; I work in tourism.
Technology and tourism
I have been programming for nearly 40 years. I now combine that experience with my work in tourism. AI is a game changer for me: it opens up many new ways to bring travel and practical information together.
