How I think about golf

For me, golf is about being outdoors, having fun and the people you play with.

For me, a lovely round does not have to mean a low score. I don’t manage those low scores anyway. Of course, it’s nice when a shot turns out just as you planned. But a good conversation along the way, a beautiful view and sharing a laugh over a wayward ball make a day on the course just as worthwhile.

I like golf that lets you challenge yourself without turning every shot into an exam. You do not have to be a perfect player to enjoy a special course. In Canada, golf is much more of a sport for everyone who loves the game. Most courses have a relaxed atmosphere, without excessive dress codes and other formalities. Golf is a sport for everyone from 8 to 88, as they say here.

In Western Canada, the course is part of the landscape. Mountains, trees and the peace around you help shape how you experience a round. That is why I also want a golf trip to leave time for the surroundings, a shared meal and a day without golf. For me, a successful trip is one that gives you more to remember than your best shot.
